Editorial biography
Bruce Ware (1953–present) is an American evangelical theologian and philosopher who has made significant contributions to the doctrine of God, particularly in areas of divine providence, the openness of God debate, and complementarian theology. Educated at Fuller Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and Dallas Theological Seminary (Ph.D.), Ware served as professor of Christian theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary from 1998 to 2022. His major works include God's Lesser Glory: The Diminished God of Open Theism (2000), a comprehensive critique of open theism, and God's Greater Glory: The Exalted God of Scripture and the Christian Faith (2004), defending classical theism and meticulous providence. Ware has also written extensively on the Trinity, divine attributes, and the relationship between divine sovereignty and human responsibility. His scholarly work combines systematic theology with biblical exegesis, defending traditional evangelical positions on God's exhaustive foreknowledge, immutability, and sovereignty while engaging contemporary theological challenges.
