Editorial biography
Peter Hitchens (1951-) is a British journalist and author who has made significant contributions to contemporary debates on religion and atheism. Unlike his late brother Christopher Hitchens, a prominent New Atheist, Peter underwent a conversion from atheism to Anglican Christianity in adulthood. His work The Rage Against God (2010) serves as both a personal memoir of his journey to faith and a critique of aggressive secularism. In this book, Hitchens argues that the decline of Christianity in the West has led to moral relativism and social decay. He challenges the New Atheist movement's claims about religion's harmful effects, drawing on his experiences in the Soviet Union to illustrate the dangers of state-enforced atheism. His perspective offers a counterpoint to prevailing secular narratives, emphasizing the positive role of Christian faith in maintaining moral order and human dignity.
