Editorial biography

Isaac Newton (1643-1727) was an English mathematician, physicist, and natural philosopher whose theological writings equaled his scientific output in volume. While renowned for his Principia Mathematica and laws of motion, Newton devoted extensive study to biblical prophecy, chronology, and the nature of the Trinity. He rejected orthodox Trinitarianism, adopting an Arian position that viewed Christ as subordinate to God the Father. His concept of absolute space and time functioned as the sensorium of God, through which the divine perceived and acted upon creation. Newton argued that the elegant mathematical laws governing the universe demonstrated divine design and required God's continuous intervention to maintain cosmic stability. His integration of natural philosophy with theology influenced subsequent physico-theology and natural religion debates. Major theological works include Observations upon the Prophecies of Daniel and the Apocalypse of St. John and An Historical Account of Two Notable Corruptions of Scripture.
