Editorial biography
Keith Augustine is a contemporary philosopher and scholar who has made significant contributions to the philosophical critique of religious beliefs about the afterlife. He is best known as the co-editor (with Michael Martin) of "The Myth of an Afterlife" (2015), a comprehensive scholarly anthology that presents naturalistic arguments against the existence of life after death. Augustine has served as Executive Director of Internet Infidels, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to defending and promoting metaphysical naturalism. His work focuses on examining empirical evidence and philosophical arguments concerning consciousness, near-death experiences, and survival of bodily death. Through his editorial work and essays, Augustine has become a prominent voice in contemporary debates about mortality and the mind-body problem, offering systematic critiques of dualistic and survivalist positions while defending physicalist accounts of consciousness.
