Editorial biography
Tim Mulgan is a contemporary philosopher who has made significant contributions to ethics and philosophy of religion, particularly regarding moral obligations to future generations and the problem of evil. He is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Auckland and has held positions at the University of St Andrews. His work "Future People: A Moderate Consequentialist Account of Our Obligations to Future Generations" (2006) explores how ethical theories address intergenerational justice. Mulgan has also written extensively on the philosophy of religion, notably in "Purpose in the Universe: The Moral and Metaphysical Case for Ananthropocentric Purposivism" (2015), where he develops an innovative approach to cosmic purpose that challenges both traditional theism and atheistic naturalism. His philosophical method combines rigorous analytical philosophy with practical ethical concerns, contributing to debates about God's existence through his examination of purposiveness in the universe and the implications of climate change for theodicy.
