Editorial biography
Clive Prince is a British author and researcher specializing in the intersection of occultism, esotericism, and the history of science. Best known for his collaborative works with Lynn Picknett, Prince examines how hermetic and occult traditions influenced the development of modern scientific thought and contemporary spirituality. In "The Forbidden Universe: The Occult Origins of Science and the Search for the Mind of God" (2011), co-authored with Picknett, he argues that many pioneering scientists, including Newton and Kepler, were deeply influenced by hermetic philosophy and that this esoteric worldview shaped their understanding of natural laws as expressions of divine intelligence. Prince's work challenges conventional narratives about the relationship between science and religion, proposing that the mechanistic worldview emerged from, rather than opposed, mystical traditions. His scholarship contributes to debates about the compatibility of scientific and spiritual worldviews and the historical roots of natural theology.
