Editorial biography
Barbara Forrest is an American philosopher and prominent critic of intelligent design and creationism. As Professor of Philosophy at Southeastern Louisiana University, she has become a leading voice in defending evolutionary science and exposing the religious motivations behind the intelligent design movement. Her book "Creationism's Trojan Horse: The Wedge of Intelligent Design" (2004), co-authored with Paul R. Gross, provides a detailed analysis of the Discovery Institute's "Wedge Strategy" and documents how intelligent design proponents attempt to introduce religious concepts into science education under the guise of scientific theory. Forrest served as an expert witness in the landmark Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District case (2005), where her testimony was instrumental in demonstrating that intelligent design is a form of creationism rather than legitimate science. Her work significantly contributes to understanding the intersection of religion, science, and public education in contemporary debates about God and naturalism.
