Editorial biography
Patrick Glynn (1950-) is an American writer and policy analyst who contributed to the philosophy of religion debate through his work on the relationship between faith and modern science. Originally an atheist with a Harvard PhD in English literature, Glynn underwent a intellectual conversion that led him to examine evidence for God's existence from contemporary scientific discoveries. In "God: The Evidence - The Reconciliation of Faith and Reason in a Postsecular World" (1997), he argues that recent findings in cosmology, physics, psychology, and medicine point toward divine design rather than materialism. Glynn particularly emphasizes the anthropic principle in cosmology, near-death experience research, and studies on the health benefits of religious practice as empirical support for theistic belief. His work represents a significant contribution to the late 20th century dialogue between science and religion, advocating for a "postsecular" worldview that integrates scientific rationality with spiritual faith.
