Editorial biography
Niels Henrik Gregersen (1956-) is a Danish Lutheran theologian and philosopher of religion who has made significant contributions to the dialogue between theology and science, particularly in the areas of complexity theory and emergence. As Professor of Systematic Theology at the University of Copenhagen, Gregersen has developed influential frameworks for understanding divine action in relation to scientific accounts of nature. His editorial work on "From Complexity to Life: On the Emergence of Life and Meaning" (2003) exemplifies his pioneering efforts to integrate complexity science with theological reflection. Gregersen is notably known for his concept of "deep incarnation," which extends the incarnation of Christ to encompass the entire material world, and for his work on naturalistic theism that maintains divine transcendence while affirming God's intimate involvement with natural processes. His scholarship has been instrumental in advancing constructive dialogue between Christian theology and contemporary science.
