Editorial biography
Norman Geisler (1932-2019) was an American Christian apologist, philosopher, and theologian who significantly influenced evangelical philosophical theology. He earned his PhD from Loyola University and taught at several institutions including Dallas Theological Seminary and Southern Evangelical Seminary, which he co-founded. Geisler authored over 90 books defending Christian theism, including "Christian Apologetics" (1976) and the four-volume "Systematic Theology" (2002-2005). A prominent advocate of classical apologetics, he developed sophisticated arguments for God's existence, particularly refining the cosmological argument. Geisler defended biblical inerrancy, engaged with religious pluralism, and critiqued naturalism, relativism, and open theism. His work bridged academic philosophy and popular apologetics, training numerous scholars in rational defense of theistic belief. He contributed substantially to evangelical engagement with Thomistic philosophy and natural theology.
