Editorial biography
R. Keith Loftin is an American philosopher and theologian associated with Scarborough College at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he has served in administrative and teaching roles in philosophy and humanities. Working within the broader tradition of evangelical analytic philosophy of religion, his scholarship focuses on metaethics, philosophy of mind, and the dialogue between Christian theism and naturalism. He is best known as editor of God and Morality: Four Views (IVP Academic, 2012), a multi-view volume bringing together Christian theists (including Mark D. Linville) and naturalists (including Evan Fales and Michael Ruse) to debate the metaethical implications of theism versus naturalism. Loftin has also edited or co-edited collections on Christian philosophy and on the relationship between mind, body, and resurrection, often featuring contributors from the contemporary Christian analytic community such as J. P. Moreland, William Lane Craig, and Stewart Goetz. His own contributions defend the rational coherence of theistic moral realism and a non-physicalist account of the human person. As an editor rather than a system-builder, Loftin functions primarily as a curator and synthesizer of debates within analytic philosophy of religion rather than as an original disputant. His work is read mainly within evangelical and analytic theist circles and has received limited engagement from secular analytic philosophers.
