Editorial biography
Nick Trakakis is an Australian philosopher specializing in philosophy of religion, particularly the problem of evil and atheistic arguments. He earned his PhD from Monash University and has held positions at Australian Catholic University and Deakin University. Trakakis is best known for his rigorous defense of evidential arguments from evil against theism, especially his support for William Rowe's formulation. In "The God Beyond Belief: In Defence of William Rowe's Evidential Argument from Evil" (2007), Trakakis provides a comprehensive analysis of Rowe's argument, defending it against various theistic objections and theodicies. His work is notable for its careful engagement with both analytic philosophy and theological responses to evil. Trakakis has also contributed to discussions of divine hiddenness, religious diversity, and the relationship between philosophy and theology. His approach combines technical philosophical analysis with sensitivity to religious experience and tradition.
